What is Virtual Reality (VR)?
Virtual reality (VR) is an immersive, computer-generated environment that allows users to interact with a virtual world.
Our connection to reality comes from our senses. Our experience of it is created by a combination of sensory information – what we can see, hear, touch – and our brains making sense of that.
VR works in the same way except your senses are being presented with made-up information. Users are interacting with a version of reality that isn’t real, but your brain will perceive it to be.
Our VR Design Services
Our expert team at JBH can help you to create and design a new experience for your clients, helping them to interact and feel your products and services.
From Gamification to e-commerce and real-time weather, our VR and 3D design services will help you to stand out from the crowd.
Virtual Reality Tour and Navigation
Creating a virtual tour of your business, school, hospital or factory helps new customers, pupils, or patients, to find their way around a building before they arrive.
The benefits for your business include saving time, money, and resources as there is no need for a member of staff to be physically present. It’s also an excellent digital marketing tool and helps to showcase your brand and your products or services.
Interactive VR Solutions
Whether you’re looking for real-time interactive environments or sensory-based simulations to give your clients a truly interactive experience, our VR solutions will help you to create bold, compelling, and exciting ways to build your brand.
We’re experts in creating VR solutions for a range of industries including architecture, education, and healthcare.
Virtual Shopping Experience
If you’re looking to give your customers a virtual shopping experience, we can help. Using our VR design services, we can create an immersive experience where shoppers can visit a virtual kin-store environment that includes features like virtual assistants and try-on tools.
This means that your customers can virtually walk around your store and enjoy product displays, connect with store assistants through live video chat, and buy products without leaving their homes. This helps to make an engaging experience for shoppers that leads to more online conversions and sales.
Gamification - Virtual Reality Games
360-degree gamification takes your brand to the next level and adds some fun to your virtual experience. Whether you want to create a scavenger hunt, 3D animation or prize draw to showcase your business and connect with your customers, our team can create a memorable immersive experience that will help to grow your brand.

VR in Healthcare
- Healthcare has been at the forefront of using virtual reality technology to improve everything from training to diagnostics and surgery. It allows medical professionals to use an interactive training environment where they can engage with a 3D patient to diagnose and treat their symptoms in a safe environment.
- One of the main areas in which VR technology has improved the standard of care has been in surgery. For example, virtual robotic surgery allows intricate procedures to be carried out by a robotic device that is controlled by a surgeon. This not only reduces the time it takes but also the level of risk and allows the surgeon to be hundreds of miles away from the patient when the surgery is performed.
VR in Education
- Virtual reality solutions in education help to enhance and transform learning experiences for students. It allows simulated real-world scenarios to be created which students can interact with and learn from.
- A virtual reality experience can be used in a range of subjects from history to geography, science, and art.
- One of the many benefits of virtual learning for students is that it allows them to do things that are impossible or impractical in real life such as travelling into space or back in time. Experiencing, for example, space travel helps them to understand and retain the information about it better than reading it from a textbook.
VR in Retail
- Virtual reality solutions in retail can provide shoppers with an interactive experience from the comfort of their own homes.
- The JBH Design teams can help you to provide a virtual shopping experience allowing users to browse your products in a 3D setting, interact with one of your team, and complete the entire process without having to set foot in your shop.
- Creating immersive experiences like this can help to raise brand awareness and increase sales and profits.
VR in Architecture
- VR in architecture helps to bring your designs to life and allows everyone to experience how a space is going to work rather than trying to work it out from a plan or 2D model. The technology provides virtual experiences and is particularly beneficial for clients who have difficulty imagining what the project will look like when it is complete.
- 3D designs allows collaboration and better communication between everyone so any issues can be identified before any work starts. This keeps costs down as issues can be identified and resolved at a much earlier stage.

FAQS
What is Virtual Reality?
VR creates a fully immersive experience that shuts out the physical world. Using VR devices such as Google Cardboard, users are transported into several real-world and imagined environments such as the middle of a squawking penguin colony, the back of a dragon, or outer space.
When visitors use a virtual reality headset, they can drop into a tailored experience that dives them into the brand message through a combination of sight and sound and in the future, will extend to tactile sensations as well.
What is the difference between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality?
The key difference between virtual and augmented reality is that AR uses a real-world setting and superimposes digital elements to it. Whereas VR, as the name suggests, is completely virtual.
VR users are transported into real-world and imagined environments such as being on a spaceship or in the middle of a 12th-century battlefield. AR uses digital information to enhance a real-life image so can show you how to get to your seat using an image of a football stadium on your smartphone.
How does virtual reality work?
VR technology uses end-to-end mechanisms that replaces the natural environment with a real-looking simulation that is strongly based on the real world. AI algorithms project new and familiar elements onto a mathematically defined surface. The result is a virtual world that looks and feels real to users.
The VR environment is usually accessed using a VR headset or display, motion controllers, and sensors that track the user’s movements and gestures in real time. Computer-generated graphics, audio, and other sensory inputs are used in the digital environment to simulate a fully immersive experience that users interact with to play a game or learn about their surroundings.
What are the different types of virtual reality?
There are several types of VR that provide different levels of interactivity. Non-immersive VR relates to an environment that doesn’t directly interact with you. Conversely, fully immersive VR ensures that you have a realistic experience within the virtual world. It’ll give you a sense of being present in that virtual world, and everything is happening to you for real.
Semi-immersive VR is a combination of the two. It can be in the form of a 3D space or virtual environment where users move about on their own, either through a computer screen or a VR box/headset. All activities within the virtual world are concentrated toward them but the user has no real physical movements other than their visual experience.
Collaborative VR is where users from different locations can come together within a virtual environment, usually in the form of 3D or projected characters.
The type of industry that Virtual reality is best for
Virtual reality has many different applications. Education, military, healthcare, entertainment, automotive, architecture, digital marketing, science, and tourism are just some of the industries that use VR to enhance user experiences.
Examples of how it is used include VR headsets allow clients to experience their design, helping them to understand how it will work in reality, rather than trying to imagine it from a drawing. Headsets can transport students into the past and give them a virtual learning environment that helps them to learn about a subject in more detail and improve outcomes for them.
